Ballades

Description

The jazz master offers us his Ballads along with his vision of "American classical music." Ahmad Jamal belongs to the very exclusive club of jazz grand masters. That's why, like Coltrane and Miles, he only looks back at his past to transcend it. This is the case here, with three pieces in duo with James Cammack on double bass, but especially a collection of seven solo pieces, an art of the absolute that he had not practiced in a long time, and in which he reveals the extent of his journey, from the iconic Poinciana to the emblematic Marseille. These are all precious moments that make this collection a new masterpiece by the pianist.
