A concentrate of seeds, ideas, loves, fears, and hopes that have sprouted, grown, and intertwined over the past two years. It's a mix of indie pop, jangle, shoegaze, emo, and country songs composed during these moments. They say the album "brings together the echoes of the songs and bands we love into deeply personal songs about growth, change, loss, and love, set against the backdrop of a buzzing world that wants to annihilate all hope." The songs are patchworks of riffs, loops, and overdubs assembled by long-time collaborator Rich Mandell over three months of recording on rooftops and in warehouses in South London. The singles from the album showcase frantic, catchy, and optimistic adults: "flag" (wildly waving, halfway between Fugazi and Supermilk, playing with rhythmic signatures while despairing in the face of late capitalism), "crying" (a simple indie pop song about managing conflict with a loved one, but in reality, arguing with the other person in their head), and "patterns" (a dream pop shoegaze song about death and its consequences). The fast and combative side of adults is expressed through chest pains and duets, all topped off with a final glam-rock solo harmony. Influenced by the kindness and community of the British DIY scene, adults continue to fight to write a song as good as the best band in the world, Martha (Durham).
