Saxophonist/composer, Adrien Amey won first prize as a soloist at the National Defense competition in 2004. He is a founding member of the Surnatural Orchestra, and has participated in numerous projects on the French jazz scene (Mégaoctet, Sacre du Tympan, Vincent Courtois, Bann Gayar, Pensées Rotatives, etc.). He is also actively involved in the circus world, such as with Cie Basinga, and more recently in music for film. His latest project is a solo concert, with the album Lila Lichen released on the very active Parisian label Discobole. A magnificent melodic and sonic UFO, each musical piece on this album is inspired by a text, a story, or an author. It is modern and evokes a thousand images in the listener's ear. It is certainly abstruse on first listen but then reveals unexpected landscapes. The album is recorded live, without overdubs, and features saxophone, zither, recorder, electronics, and feet.
