The one and only "lost" album by Adam's House Cat (Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood's band, before Drive-By Truckers), composed in 1990, is now available! The album contains archival photos and liner notes from the singer.
Town Burned Down is a deliciously grimacing portrait of wanting to get out of hell. Equal parts headstrong and whimsical, the term "country punk" seems most appropriate. When Hood and Cooley moved to Florence, Alabama, in 1985, the music scene in neighboring Muscle Shoals was almost dead. The legendary studios and a local scene have since resurfaced, but late-1980s Muscle Shoals was a true musical desert.
