Un Monde Formidable is Achab’s debut album, released in 2017. Born from crisis and media, the Achab project emerged from the meeting of Tancrède, Julien, and Mélanie, inspired by the alternative movement of the 80s, after each had played in numerous bands, toured across Europe, and written for many artists (Louis Bertignac, IBEYI, Christophe, etc.). Under the name Achab (a reference to the captain from the novel Moby Dick, a symbolic figure of Promethean revolt), they deliver a resolutely rock and rebellious album sung in French, blending the festive anger of Bérurier Noir, the disillusioned poetry of Bashung, and the black humor of Rita Mitsouko. The result: 11 burning, urgent, contemporary, and essential tracks addressing political, cultural, and societal themes (school, media, terrorism) and calling for a just and necessary revolt. A condensed mix of anger, poetry, and black humor, Achab's festive and literate electro-rock aims to touch both the hearts and minds of all who listen, allowing everyone to dance and laugh, to reflect and to cry, inseparably. The album is the soundtrack to the documentary Ni Dieu Ni Maître, Une Histoire De L’Anarchisme, directed by Tancrède and co-produced by Arte France.
