Description
"Four Spirits" is the first solo cello concerto by Abel Selaocoe. Inspired by his South African roots, it explores four essential aspects of his life: ancestors, children, faith, and community. This four-movement recording blends cello, voice, percussion, and orchestra. Abel Selaocoe improvises, sings in African languages, and tells personal stories that guide the listener through his reflections. Co-commissioned by three international orchestras, the album was recorded in 2025 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, with the Aurora Orchestra under the direction of Nicholas Collon, featuring Bernhard Schimpelsberger alongside Abel Selaocoe.Buy Four Spirits at the best price
