Music Of The Bahnar People From The Central Highlands
Description
Gongs, zithers, violins, and bamboo xylophones make up the typical orchestra of the ethnic groups of Vietnam's highlands. We should make special mention of this mouth-resonated violin, which somewhat evokes PETER FRAMPTON's guitar run through a talk-box! It was in the province of Kon Tum that EISUKE YANAGISAWA recorded these hypnotic tracks between 2006 and 2015. Given the frenetic pace of globalization, it's safe to bet that these recordings will soon bear witness to a culture and rituals that are forever gone. Among the immortalized participants are the groups of KALY TRAN, A THUT and A WEN, YTHAM and A HIEU, A THAO, and the gong ensembles from the villages of Long Loi and Kon Kotu.
