The permanent closure of San Francisco's Fillmore West led to an amusing misunderstanding in 1971. Believing, given the persistent animosity between BILL GRAHAM and their manager at the time, that they were "persona non grata," the GROOVIES, thought to be outmatched, were pleasantly surprised to find themselves booked for the closing concert of a legendary venue where CYRIL JORDAN and his band had always dreamed of performing. Furthermore, it was the last concert with guitarist and co-founder ROY LONEY.
