The BEYAZ KELEBEKLER (The White Butterflies), an orchestra primarily known for its musicians in dazzling costumes and disarming Gibbs smiles, were incredibly popular in 1970s Turkey. They released only one LP and a handful of singles, some of which were imported to the Netherlands and Italy. It was on the last day of a European tour, in Cologne in 1976, that they recorded a cassette that quickly sold out and was never reissued. Twinkling guitars, ostinato bass lines, quacking synths, and electric baglama embellished all their hits of the era, in the fine tradition of "lokum psych-rock" that marked the golden age of ERKIN KORAY, BARIS MANÇO, and EDIP AKBAYRAM. Essential!
