1186 was formed in Bogota, Colombia, in the spectrum of Rat Trap (counter-cultural art and essay) with members of Ataque Zero, Trampa and Fatal, and with multiple influences from Finnish/UK punk and post-punk bands. Histeria is the band's debut LP, and from the outset, it's one of the most hypnotic, dark, and hook-laden records you'll hear this year. Death has never been so affirmed by life. "Stylistically, the band's roots in more traditionally street-punk and hardcore bands like Ataque Zero and Trampa are evident from the start, but tracks like "Fracaso Molecular" draw inspiration from West Coast death rock and early British Peace punk. Hell, even the guitar solos crammed into the bridges of tracks like "Hoy" speak to this hybridized legacy, evoking d-beat, crossover thrash, and first-wave gothic rock. Without ever letting the pace drop, 1186 finds ways to convey the gothic mood and atmosphere of deathrock through each of these territories. Like early Belgrado and Spectres records, Histeria does a fantastic job of focusing on what differentiates deathrock from original punk or pure goth, and concentrates on that sense of swaggering doom. But despite its real affinity for the genre's roots, it never feels like a joyless exercise in neo-traditionalism, and its omnivorous approach to other genres and traditions makes it one of the most invigorating and refreshing dark rock records you'll hear this year."
