Vinyl Pre-orders: Every Upcoming Record, All Genres in One Place

How do vinyl pre-orders work?

Vinyl pre-orders let you reserve a record that has been announced but is not out yet. The store ships it as soon as it arrives, usually around release day. This page gathers every pre-order tracked on Vinyles.com, across all genres: new albums, reissues, box sets and soundtracks. For each record, you compare offers from partner stores, then complete your order with the store you choose, under its own terms.

The catalog runs from John Carpenter and Mick Gordon scores to DJ Shadow, with metal from Dragonforce and As I Lay Dying, pop from the Sugababes and Japanese music from Akiko Yano along the way. To narrow things down, each genre has its own page, including rock preorders, metal pre-orders, alternative pre-orders, pop pre-orders, jazz & blues pre-orders and soundtrack pre-orders.

Why pre-order instead of waiting for release?

Pre-ordering matters most for limited editions. Color variants, numbered box sets and store exclusives are often pressed in fixed quantities and can sell out before release day. A standard black vinyl edition is less urgent: it usually stays available after release and may be repressed. If a specific variant is what you want, ordering on announcement day is often the only way to get it at list price.

The other advantage is time to compare. The same record can be priced differently across stores, and prices can change before release. Following the product page helps you catch the best offer at the right moment, instead of rushing to the first store that lists it. Nothing is charged by Vinyles.com itself.

• The exact edition: color, artwork, number of discs
• Store exclusive or widely available
• When you are charged: at order or at shipping
• Cancellation terms if the date moves

Pre-order delays: why release dates move

Delays are common in vinyl. Making a record involves cutting, approving a test pressing, pressing and printing jackets, at plants that are running at full capacity. A problem at any stage can push a release back by weeks, sometimes months. A delay is not a cancellation, and your copy usually stays reserved. Check with the store whether you can cancel and when you will be charged.

Keeping up: Fridays, Record Store Day and reissues

Most new albums come out on Friday, the shared global release day. Pre-orders often open as soon as a record is announced, weeks or months ahead. Anniversary reissues and Record Store Day editions, sold in limited quantities through independent record stores, follow their own calendar. Check back on this page, or on your favorite genre's page such as world music pre-orders or reggae & ragga pre-orders, so you do not miss anything.
