Thibault Cauvin, “The guitar superstar” (Quotidien), unveils his unique reinterpretations of timeless works by BACH on February 3. “Recording Bach’s music... Perhaps the greatest and most beautiful adventure there is for a performer, plunging into his notes, both eternal and timeless, is profoundly moving. I remember, while preparing this album for months, losing track of time every morning as I wandered, disoriented, into these scores that looked like maps of the world. The ultimate journey, no doubt, is this great legendary Chaconne, which has driven mad the men who play it and the dreamers who listen to it for centuries. Like an adventurer setting off to discover new territories, when one strikes the first chord of this ocean, one feels as if leaving the dock for a miraculous epic. Bach’s music can be learned, cerebral, impressive, but it is also obvious and universal. It is the wisdom of childhood that I wanted to rediscover by recording this album on these lands of Dordogne where I used to go on holiday as a little boy; to find again that joy, that light, that gentle serenity. There, in a small wonderful church with enchanting sound, I recorded Bach’s notes, day and night, and I offer them to you here, like passing on a map that leads to a treasure.” Thibault Cauvin Widely acclaimed for his passion and creativity, he has never stopped winning awards and, at 20, he had won 36 prizes in total (including 13 first prizes) - more than any other guitarist. For over 15 years, he has toured extensively and played in the world’s most prestigious venues. 120 countries, 1000 solo concerts with this unique guitar stirring Carnegie Hall in New York, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Shanghai Concert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, etc... His universal playing and graceful personality have charmed and brought together audiences everywhere. His new Bach album is a must-see Classical event!
