Matt Bellamy comments: "For me, the 'Drones' are metaphorical psychopaths that enable deviant behavior without any possible recourse. The world is dominated by Drones using other Drones to make us Drones. The album follows the journey of men, from their abandonment and loss of hope, their indoctrination by the system to become human drones, to their final defection."
