Norwegian musician, composer and writer Jenny Hval returns with ‘Iris Silver Mist’, a new album on 4AD. Named in reference to the Serge Lutens perfume, the album unfolds like its namesake fragrance, a kind of floral, misty specter. Many of the songs on ‘Iris Silver Mist’ originated in the interdisciplinary piece ‘I want to be a Machine’, where the artist sought to deconstruct the definition of music, to think of it as a concept in motion. The tracks feature many elements of field recordings, floating on the boundary between music and the world around it. ‘Iris Silver Mist’ is an album about the stage, music, and their transformative power. About what touches us, changes us, and settles on or beneath our skin.
