Two Birds - Vinyle

Indie Rock is characterized by an alternative approach, often far removed from traditional commercial channels. This genre emphasizes creativity, authenticity, and a diversity of sounds, ranging from melodic to experimental.
On Vinyles.com, you'll find comprehensive access to indie rock vinyl records sold for lovers of authentic and innovative music.
Indie rock vinyl isn't a recent trend: independent labels have always backed the record, from self-released 7-inch singles in the 1980s to today's color variants. This page gathers indie rock records, from the classic American and British scenes to current bands such as Fleet Foxes, The Menzingers, Slow Pulp and The Linda Lindas. For each album, Vinyles.com lists offers from several partner stores, so you can quickly see where a standard edition, a color variant or a reissue is available and at what price. Most of the genre's classics have been reissued.
Indie labels often release the same album in several versions: standard black, an indie store exclusive color, a store-specific variant or a limited first pressing, like Sub Pop's colored "Loser Edition". Those variants can resell high, yet standard black vinyl usually sounds just as good. For 1980s and 90s classics, official reissues from the original label are often a better bet than worn first pressings. Many recent indie albums also include a download code or a printed insert with lyrics. Before you buy, check:
The 1980s laid the groundwork with R.E.M.'s "Murmur" (1983), The Smiths' "The Queen Is Dead" (1986), records by Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr., then Pixies' "Doolittle" (1989). The 1990s brought Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted" (1992) and Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea". In the early 2000s, The Strokes' "Is This It" (2001) and Arcade Fire's "Funeral" (2004) revived the genre. Today, artists like Fleet Foxes, MJ Lenderman and Madi Diaz carry the story forward.
Indie rock is followed by label as much as by artist. In the US, SST and Dischord paved the way, followed by Sub Pop, Matador and Merge; in the UK, Rough Trade, 4AD and Domino play the same role. Much of their catalog is back on vinyl. For new releases, the new release and pre-order links above the grid help you keep up, and comparing prices across partner stores keeps you from overpaying for a color variant that costs less elsewhere.
