In partnership with Independent Film Company, Waxwork Records is proud to announce the release of the soundtrack for the film THE PLAGUE, composed and performed by Johan Lenox. Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival and receiving an 11-minute standing ovation, The Plague has generated significant interest among critics. Set in a boys' water polo camp, the film follows a twelve-year-old boy suffering from social anxiety who becomes caught up in a cruel tradition targeting a pariah, as the line between ritual and reality begins to blur. The soundtrack by composer Johan Lenox highlights the tense and wild atmosphere of the film through an organic palette of percussion, solo strings, and densely layered vocals. The music reflects the growing discomfort of the story, balancing vulnerability with an ever-present sense of threat. In the exclusive notes included in the soundtrack, Lenox reflects on his immediate attachment to the project: "After years of dodging questions about when I would compose my first score, I finally found the perfect project in Charlie Polinger's The Plague. I was immediately struck by the primal nature of the story, reminiscent of Lord of the Flies."
