About
Liars, New York art punk evolving into experimental soundscapes since 2000.
Originating in Brooklyn, New York, Liars began as a quartet and have continuously evolved their sound, shifting from raw post-punk and art punk roots toward artful experimental and electronic rock. Their discography spans eleven studio albums released primarily on Mute Records, showing a diverse range of sonic explorations from noise rock to dance-punk and ambient influences.
Known for elongated and abstract track titles, Liars incorporate a mix of tribal rhythms, post-rock atmospheres, and avant-garde sound patterns. Original vinyl editions, especially limited pressings like "Mess" 2014 UK numbered LP, show wide price ranges and collection interest. The band remains a notable presence in alternative and experimental scenes with strong audiophile appeal.
