Like many other important bands, the Seattle quartet Versing made their debut on Tacoma college radio’s KUPS. Baker, Keyes, Lochner and Salas rose in Seattle’s competitive rock ecosphere with a laid-back momentum. With Versing, songwriting is obviously crucial, but much of the pleasure of 10000 comes from its guitar textures. They teem, but they are also precise and agile. The band’s freewheeling attitude has paradoxically resulted in 10000, a captivating album about which it is impossible to be ambivalent.
