Very early on, by atavism, Vanzo knew how to play his first chords “by ear” on his father’s keyboard and accompany himself on vocals. And naturally, his first riddims came to him. The turning point in his young career came in 2017, at Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall, the TV show equivalent to “Nouvelle Star” in France. Launched in 2007, the show then offered 1,500,000 Jamaican dollars to the winner, along with a production contract for a single with the essential producer Troy “Troyton” Hinds. The jury is made up of stars such as General Trees, Gramps Morgan and Bounty Killer. Vanzo made it to the final of this ruthless “contest.” This allowed him to play in the same league as his peers Demarco and Chronixx: very quickly, the first hits followed one after another. “Arif Cooper - the son of Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper of Third World, who produced Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man and Demarco - released two of my tracks, Mi Good and Relationships goals.” These tracks were immediately played on the radio and acclaimed in the dancehalls, where his crystal-clear voice and swaying flow set the dance floor on fire. The music videos, like “Alright,” were a huge hit on YouTube. Vanzo has been billed at the biggest Jamaican festivals such as Rebel Salute and Reggae Sumfest, alongside Buju Banton and Bounty Killer. Vanzo’s news is now on our side of the Atlantic: the rising Dancehall star has been won over by the expertise of the Street Machine Production team, with its French music composition and artistic direction team.
