Taba, the new album from Japanese musician, composer, and traveler Satomimagae, presents itself as a series of vignettes that document both the personal and the universal, the seen and the unseen. Some of Taba's songs feature intimate moments captured by Satomi’s handheld recorder, poetic moments of sound design animated by bedroom pop tonal and rhythmic foundations. Observing and absorbing the fleeting scenes and sounds of life unfolding outside of her studio, Satomi sings beyond herself, in an orbit of souls and systems both in the present and in the strange flux of memory, leaving linear songwriting aside for diverted, extended, and expansive stories in terms of tone and texture.
