As the gap between academic jazz, new age, and pop narrowed in the 1980s, devotees of metronomic riffs found a new and growing audience in an expanding managerial middle class, a commercial public held captive in dentists’ offices and waiting rooms across America. Studio musicians used MIDI databases, where they found every possible and imaginable instrument, to meet the demand to stay both relaxed and focused. The smooth jazz tracks featured on NuLeaf will be enjoyed for many years to come: there is no sweeter sensation!
