Intimate testimony of a musical complicity spanning twenty years, Nearness brings together the unique voice of Lizz Wright and the masterful playing of Kenny Banks Sr. on piano and organ. Born from a chance meeting decades ago, where an improvised blues interpretation of "Amazing Grace" changed the artistic path of Wright, this collaborative album explores the deep space where jazz standards, spirituals, and personal memories intersect. From the unwavering strength of the first single "Soon I'll Be Done" to the touching vulnerability of the title track, Nearness celebrates perseverance, joy, and the transformative power of a soulmate.
