JPEGMafia, whose real name is Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, is a former military man, now a rapper, singer, producer, and musician from Baltimore, Maryland. A mad experimenter, juggling with off-kilter samples and pushing the limits of the audible in tracks that always seem to laugh in your face, this mischievous genius recently recruited by Kanye West stated at the time of the release of his latest album LP!: "I don't make music for suck-ups or for those who just need a background noise to do the dishes or whatever. My fans and I love the details." Since 2015, he has been releasing mixtapes and albums expressing his rage against police violence and the systemic racism faced by Black Americans. A raw, visceral rap that blends noise, hardcore rock, and unrestrained funk, forming a learned and always surprising kaleidoscope.
