Lou Barlow announces the release of his new solo album, Brace the Wave: This album, the third under his own name, marks Lou Barlow’s big solo return, six years after the release of Goodnight Unknown in 2009. Barlow’s imposing and glorious discography includes albums by Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Folk Implosion and his very first solo effort, Sentridoh. Usually more at ease writing songs that make people uncomfortable, the singer-songwriter explores a new transitional period in his life here. His signature style is evident on tracks such as “Redeemed,” “Wave” and “Moving,” written in the studio, while other songs like “Lazy” and “C&E,” recorded live in the studio, are in a more traditional style. The album was recorded in six days with Justin Pizzoferrato (who had previously worked on Dinosaur Jr. albums Beyond, Farm, and I Bet on Sky) in Easthampton, Massachusetts, Barlow’s new home after seventeen years in Los Angeles.
