Iconic trumpeter Freddie Hubbard started playing early on with the greatest names in jazz, including Wes Montgomery, Eric Dolphy and Ornette Coleman. But it was alongside Art Blakey that this virtuoso discovered Hard Bop and eventually became one of its most prominent figures. Released in 1963, "Body & Soul" is considered the master's greatest album. The richness of his solos and the complexity of the compositions make this opus a classic of the genre. This 180-gram vinyl reissue, for which Impulse spared no effort by working with the original masters using the audiophile techniques of the label's American studios, features the cream of the crop of musicians from that era. Indeed, one can hear the virtuosity of giants such as Wayne Shorter (Sax), Curtis Fuller (Trombone), Eric Dolphy (Sax), Cedar Walton (Piano), Reggie Workman (Double Bass), Louis Hayes (Drums), but also Seldon Powell (Sax), Charles Davis (Baritone Sax), Melba Liston (Trombone) among others.
