With Cloud Time, Emily A. Sprague delivers an unprecedented sonic and spiritual journey, born from her first tour in Japan in autumn 2024. The result of improvisations recorded live in various spaces, this album reflects an intimate communion between the artist, the places visited, and the audience, where each moment becomes a unique experience, captured with rare sensitivity. Far from controlling the music, Sprague opens herself to the unknown, modulating her live setup to better embrace the moment and create active, almost meditative listening. This album, composed of seven long pieces, offers an ambient breath nourished by the Japanese philosophy of kankyō ongaku, which invites the listener to become an active participant in the sound. Tracks like "Nagoya" or "Matsumoto" reveal delicate soundscapes, oscillating between restraint and fluidity, where each note seems to resonate with the memory of places and emotions. Beyond a simple recording, Cloud Time is an intimate narrative, a love letter to the passage of time, between contemplation and letting go. For Emily A. Sprague, this tour was a lesson in humility and presence, an invitation to fully experience each space traversed. She hopes that this album, recorded with minimal artifice, can offer all her listeners a suspended moment, a break conducive to listening and healing. Cloud Time will be released on October 10th, on vinyl, Japanese import CD, and digital formats.
