Steeped in mysticism and fueled by the life-giving power of low notes, psychedelic heavy rock/metal band Druids return with their fourth studio album, "Shadow Work." With a title referencing one of the core ideas of famed psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, the Des Moines, Iowa trio presents a wild, riff-laden journey through the desolate lands of the subconscious. Combining sonic prowess with psychedelic heaviness, Druids serves up their grooves with a resolutely forward-thinking attitude, taking their sorcerous brand of psychedelic stoner rock and sludge metal to a new level of sophistication. Emerging from the murky waters of the pandemic years, Druids have crafted a sprawling opus that offers an experience at the interface of expression and introspection. An enlightening blend of psychedelic rock, atmospheric sludge, and classic heavy metal that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly new.
