Very nice reissue in LP/33 rpm format. Trans-Europe Express (in German: Trans Europa Express) is the sixth studio album by the German electronic music group Kraftwerk. Conceptually and officially, it is the 3rd album in Kraftwerk’s catalog. Recorded during 1976 in Düsseldorf, Germany, the album was released in March 1977 on Kraftwerk’s own Kling Klang label. Like its successors, this album exists in both an original German version and an international version, with tracks sung respectively in German and English. The French edition of the album stands out from the international one, as it contains a track sung in French: Les Mannequins (Schaufensterpuppen in German, Showroom Dummies in English). As for the cover, the French version is practically the same as the German one, whereas the international version has a different cover, notably on the front and back. On this album dedicated to the trains of the same name and to Europe, Kraftwerk once again moves away from its krautrock roots and continues in the vein of the first two albums in the catalog by offering experimental songs in a pop-like format, also influencing the future synthpop and new wave movements.
