Best known for their presence on the soundtrack of the Grammy and Oscar-nominated film Little Miss Sunshine, Devotchka is the kind of band that cannot be limited to a single genre: they blend indie rock, folk, and gypsy styles. The Night Fall Forever marks their return since their last album 100 Lover's released in 2011 via the Anti label. Ten songs create a mix of vocals, theremin, strings, accordions, tuba, trumpets, bass, and traditional guitar, with the single Straight Shot released a few months earlier proving that they haven't lost any of their unique sound. Devotchka means "Girl" in Russian. A name that speaks volumes about the band's origins, which played in its early days to set the mood for burlesque shows. The band is led by Nick Urata, who is also a film score composer and has worked on Crazy Stupid Love, Paddington, and more recently the hit series A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix featuring Neil Patrick Harris.
