Four years after Adulting, Claptrap rediscovers its taste for musical crossovers on Second Guessing, where the French collective led by Éric Pasquereau (Papier Tigre, La Colonie de Vacances) continues its exploration of adventurous pop infused with folk, post-bossa, exotica, and electronic experimentation. With a unique instrumental setup blending mandolin, percussion, synthesizers, and guitars, the compositions play with contrasts between bright melodies, danceable rhythms, and deliberately fluid arrangements. The four musicians favor a collective writing approach that allows acoustic timbres and electronic textures to interact, without ever losing the essence of the song. Released in 2026, Second Guessing confirms Claptrap's unique place within the French independent scene, at the crossroads of pop, experimental music, and reimagined acoustic traditions.
