With his new album ‘Mutable Set’, Grammy-winning producer, musician and singer/songwriter Blake Mills has crafted a record that encapsulates all the dissonances of modern life. The album presents a percussive-free musical universe, self-sufficient thanks to the melodies of his guitar strings. The album’s instrumentation is uncommonly sparse, featuring natural and warm sounds. Mills surrounded himself with highly skilled musicians, recording in Los Angeles’ iconic Sound City Studio: Aaron Embry (Elliot Smith, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) on keyboards, Sam Gendel (Vampire Weekend, Moses Sumney) on saxophone, Rob Moose (Alabama Shakes, Bon Iver) on strings, Abe Rounds (Meshell Ndegeocello, Andrew Bird), and the legendary Pino Palladino (The Who, D’Angelo) on bass.
