Ahmad Jamal’s unreleased treasure recorded in Paris in 1971, finally available. Ahmad Jamal Trio – First Impressions – Live in Paris is a true unreleased archive from one of jazz’s great masters. Recorded on June 25, 1971 at the Maison de la Radio, in Studio 104 in Paris, this exceptional recording brings together Ahmad Jamal on piano, Jamil Nasser on double bass, and Frank Gant on drums, in a lineup also behind the cult album The Awakening. Available for the first time, these tracks, all previously unreleased, have been transferred from the original tapes preserved at the INA, offering a new dive into a historic trio performance. Between historical document, archival treasure, and exceptional musical experience, this release is aimed as much at jazz enthusiasts as at collectors, with a particularly special resonance in France, a favored land and source of inspiration for Ahmad Jamal.
