The tenth studio album by Actress, aka Darren Cunningham, the celestial and meditative Statik, is released via Smalltown Supersound. The entire Statik project, from conception to release to creation, has been blessed with an almost supernatural ease. For Actress, who wrote most of his subtly majestic new album in a deep flow state, the project serves as a coherent testament to artistic liberation. As a result, the new contemplative album is imbued with a sense of freedom, while concealing its creator's expertise through meticulous attention to textural details and Actress's characteristic resonances. By listening closely, influential visions of aquatic realms, like the mythical Atlantis, and evocations of flying birds (and perhaps humans) may be revealed. Whether Statik encourages one to rise above or below the horizon, Actress and Smalltown Supersound promise a safe and transcendent journey.
