Janacek : oeuvres pour piano

Description

These scores represent the three "pillars" of the Czech composer's piano repertoire. A work of extraordinary originality rhythmically, harmonically, and poetically. The young Hungarian pianist entrusts these pieces to the realm of intimacy and confession. With his round, finely tuned sound, he plays with the diversity of reflections in the writing, offering a faithful rendition of the cycle On a Thorny Path. The sound, so ethereal, remains authentic, crafted to rediscover... a form of simplicity! This suits these miniatures. With Zoltan Fejérvari, one gradually enters this sound universe that recalls Debussy's impressionism. One also senses the enchanting minimalism of a Mompou, even though so many parameters separate the two composers. It is the sublimation of folklore, whose material is distilled into both scholarly and sensual music. Nothing is forced, constrained, or pushed towards an inappropriate expressionism in the contained exaltation of the cycle In the Mists. The same goes for Sonata 1.X.1905, composed following the death of a worker killed by soldiers. Zoltan Fejérvari refuses to heighten the dramatic tensions, allowing muffled timbres to breathe through the pain. A personal interpretation that deserves to be known. (Jean Dandrésy)
