SHOTNS SHADOWS/AVEC SASHA LURJE

Description

"Shotns - Shadows: Songs from Testimonies, Volume 3" is the latest addition (2024) to the Songs from Testimonies project by the Fortunoff Video Archive, presented by the Zisl Slepovitch Ensemble with Sasha Lurje. The project brings to life the painful memories of survival from genocide and the memory of those who did not survive, but above all, it tells the stories of the lives of these individuals. Volume 3 remains as linguistically and musically diverse as the two previous albums. Songs in Greek, Ladino, Yiddish, Hebrew, and Czech; music from the concentration camps and ghettos of Vilna, Warsaw, and Lodz; cabaret and theater music from around the world, adapted to tell stories of suffering and betrayal, hope and loss.
