La criée

Description

At the beginning, there is the cry and the sea. Zakouska is a French quartet that plays on the fringes of new Mediterranean music. Their third album "La Criée" brings to the surface places that connect us. Marseille, Heraklion, Athens, and Istanbul are the stages of a travel diary that winds between the cacophony of the fish markets and the clamor of dawn. In the compositions, we discover Cretan serenades, forests of strings, and tavern mischief. Violins, guitar, and accordion propel these salty and lively melodies in an intense dialogue. After setting sail to listen to them, the four musicians now navigate with ingenuity and pleasure through these port city sounds.
