This volume 2 is the sequel to the first CD: Georges Brassens – Premières chansons (1942-1949). It brings together, complementarily, other unpublished youth songs of the Sète native: initially heard from Brassens only by his comrades from the S.T.O. (in Basdorf, in the suburbs of Berlin, in 1943-1944), they were preserved and "saved" by one of them, René Iskin. It is the same René Iskin who, about fifty years later, recorded them a cappella. He did this in the presence of Pierre Onténiente, known as Gibraltar, who enriched the session with his delightful comments. Thus "recorded," these songs were entrusted to Yves Uzureau, who presents and preserves them here. Clearly, these final unpublished works of a twenty-year-old Brassens reveal a composer already established through magnificent melodies. Some of these songs, later stripped of their original lyrics and rewritten, would become major public successes.
