Propelled to the forefront of the international stage in 2000 when he won the 1st prize at the legendary Chopin competition in Warsaw at 18, Yundi has since been one of the major figures in international piano. Struck by his transcendent technique and limitless energy, the public and the press have embraced the pianist, who has performed all over the world, notably in the United States. His last recital at Pleyel in November 2010 was sold out. After the Nocturnes of Chopin, released in 2010, Yundi returns with an astonishing release: a CD + a LIVE DVD of the recital given by the artist in June 2010 at the National Centre of the Performing Arts in Beijing, a legendary building designed by the French architect Paul Andreu. The CD is a selection of the greatest masterpieces of Chopin, including Sonata No. 2, complemented by 2 traditional Chinese pieces as encores. The DVD contains the concert filmed from start to finish, where the superstar pianist in his country receives a triumphant welcome.
