Description

Each part of this double album presents a work of 33 variations by Franz Hummel. First, inspired by Beethoven's Diabelli Variations, he composed his own 33 variations on the same theme. During a tribute concert given in Riedenburg after Hummel's death on August 20, 2022, his three students, Yojo Christen, Christoph Preiß and Alexander Maria Wagner, performed and reinterpreted these variations with such force that they wished to immortalize this experience on CD.The second CD presents the Hercher Variations, composed by Franz Hummel between 2017 and 2019, performed by Christoph Preiß.It should be noted that apart from these two works by Hummel, the known piano repertoire contains very few cycles of 30 variations or more.
