The recording includes an arrangement of Symphony No. 2 attributed to Ferdinand Ries, a friend and student of Beethoven, who worked under the composer's supervision, and a brand new arrangement of Symphony No. 5 by contemporary English composer Colin Matthews. These interpretations challenge the traditional boundary between chamber repertoire and orchestral repertoire, offering the listener a new relationship with two of Beethoven's most cherished creations.
