Grup Simsek: a super fresh and modern quintet that offers an electrified set of Turkish music, both danceable and moving. Blending traditional Anatolian sounds with contemporary grooves, the band willingly flirts with 70's psychedelic sounds, Jazz, and Funk. Led by the vocals and Saz of Derya Yildirim, a young musician of rare charisma, Grup Simsek brings a fresh and unprecedented breath to gems of Turkish popular music (from artists such as Selda Bagcan, Baris Manço, and Özdemir Erdogan); but also expresses its originality through beautiful compositions and a certain mastery of improvisation. One of the few current bands to offer such a mix around the Turkish repertoire.
