YHAM is a jazz quartet formed at the initiative of Yoann Haméon, saxophonist and composer from Seine-et-Marne, who is also a teacher in the conservatories of the Melun-Val de Seine agglomeration. For this first personal project, he wanted to surround himself with talented musicians with whom he has built musical relationships for many years: Jérôme Picard on electric guitar, Philippe Monge on double bass, and Ken Parassouramin on drums.
“This second project came to me naturally in order to present an exclusively original repertoire inspired by dreams, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists. Confined within our homes during an endless pandemic episode, we developed a small morning ritual in my household that consisted of sharing and analyzing each of our dreams, with the simple goal of creating a space for openness and dialogue towards our mutual fantastical worlds. These sincere exchanges at the edge of the intimate and the reflections that ensued developed a creative space where the notion of dreams and inner journeys, introspection, and questioning intertwined to lead to this musical project. I delightfully borrow this phrase from the author of The Little Prince: “Make your life a dream and your dream a reality.” May it be for you, if you wish, like a mantra that illuminates your existence.
