Xylitol, producer and DJ also known as Catherine Backhouse, expands her musical universe with Blumenfantasie, following her debut album Anemones on Planet Mu. The album, centered around space and movement, blends cascading synths, pointillist figures, and more assertive breakbeat programming, while maintaining an intimate and melancholic atmosphere. The tracks oscillate between detailed jungle, rhythmless ambiances, and elegiac pieces like Mirjana, with nods to Krautrock and grime. Collaborations with Sculpture and The Leaf Library enrich the palette, incorporating concrete music and radio folk into exploratory rhythms.
