With Xavier de Maistre, we are in the presence of one of the most extraordinary French musicians of his generation! His career is already illustrious and stands out for his presence among the greatest musical institutions in Europe, notably when he was, until recently, the solo harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He is now pursuing a global solo career and remains virtually unmatched in his instrumental discipline, the harp. Here, he performs a stunning transcription of Smetana's Moldau, a work known for its famous version for large orchestra. He has added to his program the delightful pieces we know, both from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" and Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker," as well as those we are going to (re)discover, like Dvorak's "American Suite," originally written for orchestra. No one has really dared to approach these repertoires on the harp until now, and it is a true challenge, both virtuosic and expressive, to dedicate a complete album to them.
