'Black Is Golden', the debut full-length album by Wyn Starks, is not just the title of an album, it is his truth as a Black man living in modern America. "I decided to call the album 'Black Is Golden' because throughout history, Black and mixed-race people have faced so many injustices in this country and yet have contributed so much to society. I think it's important that we celebrate each other and all our differences." But the songs are not all centered on social justice – the album features upbeat tracks like "Circles" and "Dancing My Way" that showcase Stark's vocal range and sunny personality; juxtaposed with "At The End Of The River," a deeply moving piece about the tragic loss of Wyn's twin brother. Starks believes that his journey toward self-love is captured in this work. He shares: "I am learning to celebrate these accomplishments in my life and to love myself, flaws and all."
