Women Groove Project

Description

They are called MAMY KANOUTE and GNIMA SARR. They are artists and Senegalese. They are part of this young female generation that does not intend to play supporting roles and is asserting itself today through a collective of musicians, videographers, and photographers called "Women Groove Factory." MAMY KANOUTE, singer, backing vocalist for Baaba Maal, member of the African Divas (DJ Frédéric Galliano has recorded a double afro-electro album with them). GNIMA SARR, born in Dakar, has lived in Paris for over 10 years. Her rap is poetic and her voice is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or Sarah Vaughan. Her music is a blend of styles, in the vein of Motown sound, a mix of jazz, soul, and blues. It is with director Hervé Sambe that they created this first album. A talented guitarist and musical revelation from Senegal in recent years, he is also the musical director of isa Simone, the only daughter of the legendary Nina Simone, and accompanies her on stage on guitar. This album thus mixes all the influences of this generation born from the global sound system.
