This new recording of Le Cor merveilleux de l'enfant was made to commemorate his sixtieth anniversary and will accompany him throughout an international tour. His interpretation, the result of many years of experience, brings a new depth to these wonderful pieces. Mahler set to music the poems of Clemens Brentano and Achim von Arnim in 1892. The piano part is remarkable for the orchestral complexity of its writing. The composer would later orchestrate 10 of the 14 Lieder of the cycle, which would also provide him with the essence of some of his symphonies.
