Manchester's wild sons, Wode, return with their 4th album, *Uncrossing The Keys*, confidently expanding their unique sound rooted in fierce black metal and massive heavy metal. Increasingly melodic and structured, they explore new dark shades: post-punk/gothic flourishes on "Saturn Shadow," the atmospheric instrumental "Phantom," or the doom slowness and gravity of "Transmutation," reminiscent of Paradise Lost and Amorphis. "Under Lanternlight" blends melancholy and power à la Sentenced, with shimmering, funereal guitars. The raw, almost ritualistic vocals intensify this twilight atmosphere.
