WINDSWEPT is the uncompromising creation of Roman Sayenko (Drudkh) and his long-time collaborators. Formed in 2017, the Ukrainian trio has built a reputation for their unfiltered black metal: raw, immediate, and guided by instinct rather than calculation. On ‘The Devil’s Vertep’, WINDSWEPT transforms historical testimonies into a sonic ritual. Inspired by The Black Book of Kremenets Castle (1747-1777), the album reconstructs the 1753-1754 witch trials in Western Ukraine across six tracks of austere and visceral black metal. Each composition reflects the tension between confession and punishment, moving from the brutal “Infanticide” to the poignant “Verdicts”. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Viter Music, the album combines spontaneous performance with conceptual unity, while the artwork by Obsidian Bone captures its chilling atmosphere.
