"In dulci jubilo" - exceptional Christmas carols with the Windsbach Boys' Choir and the Lautten Compagney Berlin. The first recording under the new artistic direction will be released on November 15, 2024, on Deutsche Harmonia Mundi (Sony Music). The Windsbach Boys' Choir is considered one of the best ensembles of its kind. Since its founding in 1946, it has embodied the synthesis of musicality, versatility, precision, and sonic purity. Since 2022, Ludwig Bohme has been the new artistic director of the Windsbacher. This new Christmas album is the first recording under his direction, and for this, they have joined forces, following successful concerts, with the musicians of the Lautten Compagney Berlin to create a unique sound. The album naturally includes popular German Christmas carols such as "Macht hoch die Tür", "In dulci Jubilo", "Vom Himmel hoch", or "Stille Nacht", but Ludwig Bohme has chosen particular choral arrangements for each. The album, rich in atmosphere and musical diversity, also offers lesser-known pieces to discover: a choral version of "Den die Hirten lobeten sehre" dating from the late 15th century, the Argentine Christmas carol "La Peregrinación" by Ariel Ramirez, the Canadian traditional "Huron Carol", a "Gloria" from a mass by Robert Volkmann (1815-1883), and the Bohemian Christmas carol "Kommet, ihr Hirten". The Lautten Compagney performs two pieces alone: "Norwegian Wood" by the Beatles and a "Ciaconna" by the Italian composer Andrea Falconieri (circa 1585-1656).
